Mijas covers an area of approximately 148.5 km², making it one of the largest municipalities on the Costa del Sol. This extensive area is divided between Mijas Pueblo, located in the hills, and Mijas Costa, which runs along the Mediterranean coastline. It also includes areas such as Las Lagunas, La Sierrezuela, and other smaller residential zones.

  • From Marbella to Mijas: Mijas is about 30 km from Marbella, approximately a 35-minute drive. However, the distance can vary depending on where you are in Mijas. For example, if you’re in Calahonda, you are just a 2-minute drive away from Marbella, as the boundary between the two municipalities is right there. For other areas, such as Mijas Pueblo, it takes longer, around 30-35 minutes by car.

  • From Málaga to Mijas: Mijas is about 30 km from Málaga, which translates to around 25-30 minutes by car, depending on the route taken via the A-7 or the AP-7 highways.

  • From Fuengirola to Mijas: Fuengirola is very close to Mijas, only 8 km away, which means about 10-15 minutes by car, depending on which part of Mijas you're heading to.
